The barbell is probably next up, and it will help you focus on heavy weights for particular muscle groups. Finally, move on to a machine that can work many muscles simultaneously. It also requires you to use the small muscles you worked with the dumbbells less, so if they get tired it won’t ruin the rest of your weight lifting workout.
This is in keeping with the idea of allowing yourself easy days between hard days of exercise. Your body will definitely improve much more quickly by giving it lots of time to relax and recover. Doing this will also prevent injuries from occurring.
